SALT INSTITITE MARKS WORLD CANCER DAY

World Cancer Day 2022 marks the first year of a new three-year campaign centered on the issue of equity. Marked on the 4th of February every year, the campaign theme “Close the Care Gap” recognizes the power of knowledge and challenges assumptions. This first year of the campaign raises awareness about the lack of equity in cancer care and explains the barriers that exist for many people in accessing services and receiving the care they need, and how these barriers potentially reduce a person’s chance of surviving cancer.

SALT Institute joins the whole world to mark World Cancer Day. World Cancer Day aims to reduce the number of preventable deaths each year by raising cancer awareness amongst the general public and pressing governments to take further action against the disease.

At the SALT Institute, we recognize that cancer is a threat to higher education and its development. The need to collectively join hands with all stakeholders on cancer awareness and eradication should be imperative for all educational institutions in the world.

As we mark this day at the SALT Institute, we urge the general public to avoid lifestyles that expose them to the risk of cancer. Also, while standing in love with those affected by cancer, we urge them to be meticulous with their medication towards ensuring they live well to contribute their quota to global development.
